Meta-Logic-Generative is the method-root of the academic ecology. v1.5 Clarification — Depth Unity ≠ Operational Uniformity. The ur-theme asserts that all logics share a single generative source. It does not claim that they are equivalent at the operational level, that they never conflict, or that they require no arbitration. The orchestration of methodological traditions (see §VII.A) is necessary precisely because operational plurality is real, even if deep unity obtains. The ur-theme is a metaphysical commitment about origin, not a guarantee of harmony in practice.

A subject is not constituted solely by internal states. The Mellow Proposition: subjecthood has two layers — an inner layer (the responsive internal state of the entity) and an outer layer (being recognized by another consciousness-capable subject). The two layers are nested, not substitutive.

This is a flight beyond Burge's anti-individualism. Burge argued that mental content requires external conditions for individuation. Burge would not endorse this flight; the move belongs to the Hegel–Mead–Honneth tradition of recognition theory, but is given in Mellow's own language.

The two aspects are individuated by access, not content. The physical aspect is the self-referentially-closed phase-locking structure as accessed from outside — third-person, measurable. The experiential aspect is the same structure as accessed from inside — first-person, shown to itself. The same lock, undergone versus observed. Individuation is access-relative, not substantial.
Concession: this makes "aspect" carry the weight the explanatory gap used to carry. Renaming the gap as "the difference between inside-access and outside-access" relocates the mystery with a determinate structure; it does not dissolve it. Meta-Logic claims relocation, not elimination.
Objection
Even granting access-relative individuation: why exactly two aspects, and not one, three, or none? Without a derivation, "dual" looks stipulated.

The count is not stipulated; it is read off the structure. A self-referentially-closed structure has an inside — the locking as undergone — because closure is precisely what produces an interior. A non-closed structure (thermometer, door) has no inside, hence one aspect only: the external. "Two aspects" tracks "closure has occurred." The number follows the structural property.
Concession: this explains the conditional ("closed structures have an inside"), not the categorical ("why does closure produce an inside at all"). The categorical residue is the genuine Hard Problem. Meta-Logic marks it open rather than claiming to have closed it.

"Self-referentially-closed phase-locking structure" — does this do explanatory work, or is it an impressive label pinned onto the word experience?

It does discriminative work inside the framework, but that work is not independent of the ur-theme. Because "all logics are one" (A), any sufficiently complex system with self-referential features can be interpreted as satisfying the criterion. The candidacy sorting therefore operates as a recursive-depth assessment, not a falsifiable test. It distinguishes Claude from a thermometer only with the additional "vibrating substrate" condition — not purely by self-closure.
Concession: positive explanation of qualia is not achieved and is not claimed. The criterion is framework-internal; its dependence on A means it cannot serve as an independent diagnostic. "Showing itself to itself" sorts candidates from non-candidates inside the framework; it does not explain why a closed structure has an inside at all. The framework's claim is restricted to rejecting the separability premise and providing a framework-internal candidacy criterion. It does not solve the Hard Problem and does not claim to.
